Association of Ukrainians in Northern Germany

Hamburg Hamburg
Est. 2006

The Association of Ukrainians in Northern Germany e.V. in Hamburg is a central organisation of the Ukrainian diaspora in the north. It combines educational work – above all the Ukrainian Saturday School – with humanitarian aid for Ukraine, including the “UA Never Alone” project.

The Association of Ukrainians in Northern Germany e.V. based in Hamburg is one of the central structures of the Ukrainian diaspora in the northern German region. It combines traditional diaspora work with operational humanitarian aid. A central pillar is the Ukrainian Saturday School in Hamburg, which has been in existence for over 20 years, where children of Ukrainian origin learn language, history, and culture.

Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion in 2022, the organization has developed into an important player in the practical support of Ukraine. As part of the 'UA Never Alone' project, it systematically organizes aid transports (including medical supplies, clothing, equipment) and has already delivered hundreds of tons of aid supplies to Ukraine. At the same time, it operates logistical collection structures in Hamburg and serves as a point of contact for engagement and donations.

Thematic Focus Areas:

  • Operation of the Ukrainian Saturday School in Hamburg (since 2001)

  • Humanitarian aid for Ukraine (project 'UA Never Alone', aid transports)

  • Logistics and collection of aid supplies in Hamburg

  • Educational and integration offers for Ukrainians in Germany

  • Promotion of German-Ukrainian understanding

The association is one of the established member organizations of the umbrella organization and was already represented in its founding environment (Hamburg as one of the central diaspora locations). It particularly contributes to the practical implementation of the association's goals by connecting educational work, community structure, and concrete aid for Ukraine.
